Psalms 36:2

What does Psalms 36:2 mean?
When we're wrapped up in ourselves, we lose the ability to see ourselves clearly. The psalmist is describing someone so caught up in their own image that they can't recognize the damage they're causing, either to themselves or others. It's that painful human tendency to justify what we do, to tell ourselves a story where we're the good guy even when we're hurting people around us. The hardest part isn't spotting sin in others, it's being honest about our own. When we're too invested in how we appear, we become blind to the gap between who we pretend to be and who we actually are. This verse invites us to ask for help seeing ourselves truthfully, which is the only way real change can begin.
