What does Psalms 34:9 mean?

When the psalmist invites God's people to "fear" him, he's not talking about cowering in terror, but rather showing reverence and respect, the kind of awe you'd feel recognizing someone's true power and goodness. The promise here is wonderfully practical: those who orient their lives around honoring God discover that their genuine needs are actually met. This doesn't mean wealthy luxury or freedom from hardship, but rather that a life anchored in faith and respect for God leads to a kind of sufficiency and provision that goes deeper than circumstance.
