Psalms 28:9
“Save your people, and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd also, and bear them up forever.”
What does Psalms 28:9 mean?
The psalmist is calling out to God with a request that flows from deep trust: save these people who belong to you, bless what God has claimed as his own, and stay present to them like a shepherd stays with sheep. The image of bearing people up suggests not abandoning them to their own struggles, but actively carrying them through difficulty and holding them steady. When we pray this way, we're essentially saying we know we can't make it on our own strength, and we're asking God to show up as both protector and guide, not just once but continually.
