Psalms 25:18
“Consider my affliction and my travail. Forgive all my sins.”
What does Psalms 25:18 mean?
The psalmist is asking God to truly *see* his suffering—not to fix it immediately, but to acknowledge the weight of what he's carrying. In the same breath, he asks for forgiveness, connecting his pain with his need for God's mercy in a honest way that doesn't pretend he's been perfect. This reflects something many of us experience: when we're struggling, we become aware of both our circumstances and our own failings. The prayer assumes God cares about both parts of our story. He's not saying his affliction excuses his sin, but rather inviting God into the whole picture of where he is, asking for both understanding and restoration.
