What does Psalms 25:1 mean?

The writer of this psalm is expressing a deep, honest turning toward God in a moment that matters. "Lifting up the soul" means directing your whole self, your deepest longings and struggles, toward God rather than away from Him or toward other things that won't help. This is especially meaningful because the psalmist isn't pretending to have it all together, just offering everything to God as it is. It's an invitation for anyone carrying weight or uncertainty to do the same, to recognize that God is worth turning toward even when we're not sure what comes next.
