What does Psalms 17:1 mean?

When we're hurting or facing injustice, it's natural to want God to listen and understand our side of things. This prayer opens with someone asking God to pay attention because their complaint is honest and sincere, not manipulative or false. The speaker is saying, in effect, "I'm bringing this to you with a clean heart, not trying to trick you or hide the truth." It's a reminder that God values genuine, straightforward honesty in our prayers, and that we can come to him asking him to see and hear what's really going on in our lives and circumstances.
