The "usury" reference points to charging excessive interest on loans, particularly to poor people who had no other options, a practice Scripture consistently condemns as exploitation. Taking bribes against the innocent means using your influence or position to harm someone who doesn't deserve harm, usually for personal gain. The deeper promise here is that living with honesty and fairness creates an inner stability that circumstances can't touch. When you're not constantly protecting secrets, nursing guilt, or living in fear of exposure, you develop a kind of unshakeable peace.
