Psalms 145:3
“Great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised! His greatness is unsearchable.”
What does Psalms 145:3 mean?
The psalmist is declaring something fundamental about God that's meant to settle the heart: God is so vast and wonderful that human praise will always fall short of capturing who he truly is. This isn't meant to discourage us from praising him, but rather to free us from the burden of thinking we need to get it perfectly right or completely adequate. The phrase "unsearchable greatness" speaks to a God who cannot be fully mapped out or completely understood, no matter how much we study or think about him. There's always more, always deeper dimensions to discover. For many people, especially those who feel stuck or confined by life's circumstances, this can be comforting: the God we're connected to is bigger than any single problem or season we're facing.
