Psalms 144:8
“whose mouths speak deceit, Whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.”
What does Psalms 144:8 mean?
The psalmist is describing people who can't be trusted, whose words are lies and whose actions are equally deceptive. When someone's "right hand" is false, it means even their promises, agreements, and gestures of friendship are hollow. This paints a picture of people living in duplicity, where nothing they say or do is genuine. The point isn't that these are the only kinds of people in the world, but that the psalmist recognizes danger when he sees it and is calling out to God for protection from those who would harm him through cunning and betrayal.
