Psalms 143:10
“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.”
What does Psalms 143:10 mean?
The psalmist here is asking God to show him not just what is right, but how to actually live it out. There's a humility in this prayer that recognizes we often know what we should do but struggle with the doing part, and that we need God's help and guidance to follow through. The "Spirit is good" phrase reassures us that God isn't asking us to do hard things out of harsh judgment, but because His character is fundamentally good and His ways lead to genuine flourishing. When the psalmist asks to be led "in the land of uprightness," he's essentially saying, "Help me walk the honest path, step by step, day by day," which is something many of us can relate to when we're trying to find our way through confusion or difficulty.
