Psalms 141:3
“Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips.”
What does Psalms 141:3 mean?
The psalmist is asking God to help him guard his words, recognizing how easily our tongues can get us into trouble. It's a humble request for self-control, asking God to work in his heart so that what comes out of his mouth reflects wisdom and kindness rather than anger, gossip, or things he'll later regret. Many people find this prayer especially meaningful when they're in conflict, feeling defensive, or tempted to say something hurtful.
