What does Psalms 136:9 mean?

God arranged the moon and stars to light up the darkness when we rest, and this act of thoughtfulness toward us is just one more example of how his kindness never runs out. The psalmist is drawing attention to something we might overlook: even the small mercies we take for granted (like being able to see at night) show us God's care for our needs. This verse is part of a longer psalm that celebrates how creation itself testifies to God's constant, unfailing love, and it invites us to notice and be grateful for these quiet gifts we receive every single day.
