Psalms 13:3
βBehold, and answer me, Yahweh, my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death;β
What does Psalms 13:3 mean?
The psalmist is in real distress here, pleading with God to respond and help before it's too late. "Give light to my eyes" is both literal (asking for restored health and alertness) and spiritual, expressing a deep fear of slipping away into despair or death. There's an urgency in these words, a sense that without God's intervention, the speaker will lose consciousness, lose hope, or lose life itself. It's the prayer of someone who feels themselves fading and desperately needs to know that God is paying attention and will act.
