What does Psalms 122:8 mean?

The psalmist is making a choice to speak peace over others, not because he feels peaceful in the moment, but because of his love for them. There's something powerful here about using your words intentionally to bless people you care about, even when you yourself might be struggling. By declaring "peace be within you," he's offering what he hopes God will grant them, almost like a spoken prayer on their behalf. It's a beautiful reminder that sometimes our greatest gift to those around us is to voice goodness and blessing toward them, especially when they need to hear it.
