“Woe is me, that I live in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!”
What does Psalms 120:5 mean?
The psalmist is expressing deep loneliness and spiritual distress, using the names of distant, foreign lands to describe feeling like an outsider in a hostile place. Meshech and Kedar were known as rough, warlike regions far from Israel, so this is a poetic way of saying "I'm surrounded by people who don't understand me or share my values."
