What does Psalms 119:116 mean?

The psalmist is asking God to keep him standing firm, grounded in the promises found in Scripture, so that he can continue living with confidence and purpose. There's a deep vulnerability here, too, because he's admitting that without God's help he might fall apart or lose his grip on hope altogether. When he says "let me not be ashamed of my hope," he means he doesn't want to be proven foolish for trusting God, especially when others might be watching or doubting alongside him. This prayer captures something real about faith, especially during hard times: we need God to actively sustain us, and we need reassurance that our hope in Him won't turn out to be empty.
