Psalms 118:24
“This is the day that Yahweh has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!”
What does Psalms 118:24 mean?
There's a beautiful simplicity in recognizing that today—whatever it brings—is itself a gift from God. The psalmist isn't denying that life has hard days, but rather inviting us to shift our focus from what we're facing to the fact that we're facing it alive, with breath in our lungs and another chance to experience grace. This kind of rejoicing isn't about forcing happiness or pretending difficulties don't exist, but about choosing to notice that even in uncertain times, we're held within God's creation and care. When we wake up and remember that this day exists because God made it, something settles in us, and we can meet the hours ahead with a different kind of strength.
