Psalms 108:7
“God has spoken from his sanctuary: “In triumph, I will divide Shechem, and measure out the valley of Succoth.”
What does Psalms 108:7 mean?
God is declaring that he will give his people victory and divide the land as their inheritance. Shechem and the valley of Succoth were territories in the promised land, so this isn't actually about cutting up geography on a whim, but about God fulfilling his covenant promise to grant Israel their homeland. The psalmist is reminding listeners that what God speaks from his holy place, he accomplishes, and that divine promises made long ago are as solid and certain as dividing land among rightful heirs. For anyone trusting God during uncertain times, this carries the same reassurance: what he has committed to do will happen.
