Proverbs 30:6
“Don’t you add to his words, lest he reprove you, and you be found a liar.”
What does Proverbs 30:6 mean?
This is a warning about the danger of adding our own ideas to God's actual words, then passing them off as if they came from him. When we twist or embellish what Scripture says to fit our preferences, we're essentially lying and claiming God said something he didn't, which puts us in a position where we'll be corrected and exposed. The writer is urging humility and honesty, especially if you're teaching others, because God takes seriously the difference between his words and ours. It's an invitation to respect the text as it is rather than remake it into something more convenient for what we want to believe.
