What does Proverbs 3:31 mean?

When we see someone who gets ahead through intimidation, manipulation, or harm, it's natural to feel a little jealous of their power or success. This proverb gently warns us not to let that envy grow into something that pulls us off course. The point isn't just to avoid acting violently ourselves, but to recognize that admiring someone's methods (even secretly) can slowly reshape how we think and act. The deeper wisdom here is that taking shortcuts through cruelty might look efficient from the outside, but it comes with invisible costs to our own character and peace. Choosing a different way, even when it's slower or harder, keeps us becoming the kind of person we actually want to be.
