What does Proverbs 29:19 mean?
Some people hear correction but refuse to let it change them. They understand perfectly well what you're saying, yet they choose not to act on it. This proverb isn't really about hired servants, but about anyone who has decided ahead of time that they won't be moved, no matter what reasonable words are spoken to them. It's a sobering reminder that wisdom can be offered to someone, but we can't force them to receive it. Sometimes the most frustrating conversations are with people who have already made up their minds. What matters then is that we speak truth clearly and with good intention, and release the outcome to God.
