What does Proverbs 29:15 mean?
Discipline and guidance work together to help children grow into wise, capable people. When a parent sets boundaries and corrects misbehavior, the child learns consequences and develops better judgment. By contrast, a child who receives no direction or accountability often makes choices that bring heartache—not just to themselves, but to those who love them most. This doesn't mean perfection or harshness. The point is that children need caring adults to lovingly correct them when they're headed the wrong way, much like a farmer prunes a fruit tree so it grows strong and fruitful. Without that shaping, a young person can drift into patterns that hurt everyone around them, especially a parent watching from the sidelines, powerless to help.
