What does Proverbs 25:28 mean?

A person without self-control is like a city stripped of its defenses, left exposed and vulnerable to whatever comes. Just as ancient walls protected a city from invaders and chaos, your inner discipline protects you from impulses that can damage your relationships, health, and peace of mind. When you let every feeling, desire, or anger run loose without restraint, you're essentially leaving yourself wide open to harm. The proverb invites us to see self-control not as restriction that limits us, but as protection that keeps us whole.
