What does Proverbs 24:11 mean?

When we see someone heading toward real harm, we're called to step in if we can. This proverb uses vivid language about literal danger to teach that we shouldn't stay silent or inactive when people around us are in crisis, whether that's physical danger, addiction, abuse, or spiritual darkness. The "slaughter" imagery might feel intense, but it reflects how serious the consequences can be when no one intervenes. This doesn't mean you're responsible for saving everyone, but rather that compassion should move us to act when we have the chance and the ability to help someone turn around.
