What does Proverbs 19:25 mean?
When someone openly mocks what's right and faces real consequences for it, people watching learn to be more careful about their own choices. But when you correct someone who already respects truth and is willing to listen, they actually grow wiser from that gentle correction. The verse contrasts two very different responses to accountability: the hardened person needs the hard lesson to wake up, while the thoughtful person just needs honest feedback to improve. This speaks to something many of us experience. Sometimes we learn best from watching others face the results of poor choices, and sometimes we learn best when someone we trust simply tells us the truth. Both kinds of learning matter, and both deserve our attention.
