What does Proverbs 19:23 mean?

The reverence and respect we develop toward God—taking him seriously, trusting his wisdom—actually protects us and opens us to real peace. When we stop fighting against how God has made the world and instead align ourselves with his values, we find that anxiety loses its grip on us. There's a deep rest that comes from knowing we're not responsible for controlling everything, and from believing that someone wiser and more powerful than our circumstances is actually good. That's the contentment this verse points to: not the absence of difficulty, but the presence of trust that lets us weather hard seasons without being destroyed by them.
