What does Proverbs 19:13 mean?

A parent's heartache often comes from watching their child make destructive choices, the kind of deep disappointment that weighs on you day after day. The verse then shifts to describe how constant bickering in a marriage wears you down in much the same way, like a leaky faucet that never stops dripping and gradually wears away at your peace. Both situations are highlighting how certain relational patterns create ongoing suffering rather than one-time problems. The point isn't to shame anyone, but to gently suggest that our choices and how we treat those closest to us have real consequences on the people we love most.
