“Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than he who is perverse in his lips and is a fool.”
What does Proverbs 19:1 mean?
Integrity, the Bible suggests, is worth more than wealth. Someone living honestly, even in poverty, has something genuinely valuable that money can't buy, while a fool with a silver tongue and crooked words has already lost what matters most. This speaks to a real human experience: we've all known people who seem to have everything yet feel empty, and others with very little who carry a quiet dignity.
