What does Proverbs 15:16 mean?
Having a small amount of what you need while living with reverence for God brings more peace than having riches that come with stress, conflict, or a guilty conscience. The writer isn't romanticizing poverty, but rather pointing out that material abundance without inner contentment—or worse, gained through compromise—creates its own kind of poverty. When your foundation is spiritual peace and a right relationship with God, you can actually enjoy and find sufficiency in modest circumstances. The flip side is that all the money in the world can't buy you back the restfulness you lose when your life feels untethered from what matters most.
