What does Proverbs 11:6 mean?

Being honest and doing what's right creates a kind of protection around your life, like a safety net that catches you when things get hard. When you live with integrity, you naturally avoid so many of the traps and pain that come from cutting corners or hurting others. On the flip side, when someone lets their desires pull them in destructive directions, those desires become chains, tightening around them more and more. The verse isn't saying good people never face trouble, but rather that a life built on what's right tends to lead you away from the worst kinds of suffering you create for yourself.
