What does Proverbs 11:31 mean?

This verse speaks to a fundamental truth about how our choices shape our lives, both now and beyond. If even good people experience the natural consequences of living faithfully (through peace, stronger relationships, and God's provision), then those who deliberately choose wrongdoing can certainly expect to face the weight of that path as well. The "how much more" isn't about God being harsh, but rather about cause and effect: the further we stray from what's good and true, the more we distance ourselves from flourishing. It's meant to be sobering but also hopeful, because it affirms that God's way of living isn't arbitrary—it actually leads somewhere better, and our choices genuinely matter.
