Philippians 3:12

What does Philippians 3:12 mean?
Paul is being refreshingly honest here about his spiritual journey. Even after years of following Jesus and doing incredible ministry work, he's saying he hasn't "arrived" yet, hasn't reached some final state of perfection or complete understanding. Instead of letting that discourage him, he describes himself as pressing forward, striving hard to grasp the purpose Christ grabbed hold of him for in the first place. There's real comfort in this for anyone who feels like they should be further along spiritually than they are. Paul's essentially saying that growth and reaching toward God is the normal Christian life, not something you graduate from. The beautiful part is that his striving isn't driven by shame or the fear that God will reject him if he doesn't perform perfectly, but by the reality that Christ already seized him, claimed him, and gave his life direction. So Paul runs toward that calling, not away from judgment.
