What does Obadiah 1:2 mean?

God is telling Edom that their pride and self-importance have blinded them to their true position: they're not the mighty power they believe themselves to be. This was a real historical situation—Edom was a small nation that had grown arrogant, especially after profiting from Judah's suffering during invasions. God's point isn't meant to shame them for sport, but to wake them up to reality before their pride destroys them completely. Sometimes we all need to hear hard truth about ourselves, not as punishment, but as an invitation to humility and change.
