Obadiah 1:11
“In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots for Jerusalem, even you were like one of them.”
What does Obadiah 1:11 mean?
God is calling out Edom for standing by during Judah's destruction rather than helping their neighbors in crisis. When foreign armies invaded Jerusalem and divided its treasures, the Edomites—who were actually related to the Israelites through their ancestor Esau—did nothing to stop it. In fact, they seem to have participated in or profited from the devastation, which made them complicit in the violence against their own kin.
