What does Numbers 7:6 mean?

The Levites were set apart for temple service but owned no land of their own, so they depended on the community's support. When the Israelite leaders brought their generous offerings for the new tabernacle, Moses distributed the wagons and oxen to the Levites since they would need reliable transportation to carry the heavy, sacred furnishings as the people traveled through the wilderness. This reflects a practical principle that still speaks today: when we recognize someone's calling, we also bear responsibility for helping equip them to do that work. Moses's action showed that supporting those in spiritual service isn't optional, but a necessary part of honoring the whole community's relationship with God.
