Numbers 6:18
“The Nazirite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the Tent of Meeting, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it on the fire which is under the sacrifice of peace offerings.”
What does Numbers 6:18 mean?
When someone completed a Nazirite vow (a period of dedicated separation to God), they performed a public ceremony to mark the end of it. Shaving their head was the outward sign that this special season had finished, and burning the hair as part of a peace offering showed they were returning that consecration back to God. The whole ritual happened at the Tent of Meeting, the center of worship, so the community witnessed the transition. It's a beautiful picture of closure: you made a commitment, you lived it out, and now you formally release it and return to ordinary life, bringing your dedication as an offering to the Lord.
