What does Numbers 6:16 mean?

In the ritual system described in Numbers, the priest acts as a go-between for someone who has completed a Nazirite vow (a period of special dedication to God). The priest brings the offerings the person has brought and presents them to God on their behalf, handling both a sin offering (acknowledging human imperfection) and a burnt offering (expressing complete devotion). This moment marks the end of the vow period and restores the person to regular community life. Even after a time set apart for God, the acknowledgment that we all need forgiveness and recommitment remains central to how ancient Israel understood their relationship with God.
