Numbers 4:22
““Take a census of the sons of Gershon also, by their fathers’ houses, by their families;”
What does Numbers 4:22 mean?
God is instructing Moses to count the Gershonites (one of the three main Levite families) so he'll know how many men are available for the work of maintaining the tabernacle and transporting its furnishings. The census wasn't just about numbers, it was about organization and purpose. Every person had a role in keeping Israel's worship moving forward, and God cared enough to make sure each family line was accounted for and assigned work that matched their abilities. This reminds us that in God's eyes, we're not lost in a crowd, we're known and we're given meaningful work to do.
