What does Numbers 36:5 mean?
At the end of the book of Numbers, Moses is settling a legal question about inheritance. The daughters of Zelophehad had asked whether they could inherit their father's land since he had no sons, and God had said yes—but this raised a new problem: if these women married outside their tribe, their family's land would pass to another tribe.
