Numbers 33:35
βThey traveled from Abronah, and encamped in Ezion Geber.β
What does Numbers 33:35 mean?
The Israelites are continuing their long journey through the wilderness after leaving Egypt, and this brief verse simply marks one more stop along the way. Ezion Geber was a real place, a port city on the Red Sea's northern shore, so by this point in their travels the people were moving into more settled territory. After all the years of wandering in the desert, reaching such a recognizable destination would have meant they were drawing closer to their goal. Sometimes in our own difficult seasons, small forward movements matter, and arrival at even one more waypoint is worth acknowledging.
