Numbers 31:41
“Moses gave the tribute, which was Yahweh’s wave offering, to Eleazar the priest, as Yahweh commanded Moses.”
What does Numbers 31:41 mean?
After Israel's victory over the Midianites, the plunder needed to be divided carefully according to God's instructions. Moses set aside a portion as a "wave offering," which was a sacred gift dedicated to the Lord, and gave it to Eleazar, the high priest, to manage on behalf of God's people. This moment shows how seriously the ancient Israelites took honoring God with the firstfruits of what they received, even in the midst of conflict. It's a reminder that our resources ultimately belong to God, and setting aside what we have for His purposes and for supporting those who serve in spiritual leadership has always been part of following Him.
