What does Numbers 3:36 mean?

The Levites were divided into three main families, each with specific responsibilities for caring for God's tent sanctuary. The sons of Merari were assigned to maintain the structural skeleton of the tabernacle, the framework that held everything together, which speaks to a kind of behind-the-scenes faithfulness that made all the more visible work possible. Without sturdy boards, bars, and pillars, the whole sacred space would collapse, yet their contribution rarely gets the dramatic attention that other roles received. This is a quiet reminder that God values steady, foundational work just as much as the more visible callings, and that serving in unglamorous ways is still serving the Lord with your whole heart.
