What does Numbers 29:16 mean?
This verse is part of the detailed instructions for the Festival of Tabernacles, when ancient Israel made specific sacrifices to God. Each day of the festival included not just the main burnt offering, but also a separate sin offering, a grain offering, and a drink offering, all made together. The repetition of these offerings throughout Scripture shows how seriously the community took the need for forgiveness and reconciliation with God. Even while celebrating with joy and gratitude through the burnt and grain offerings, they also made space for acknowledging sin and seeking cleansing.
