What does Numbers 27:5 mean?

When the daughters of Zelophehad asked Moses for their inheritance rights (since their father had no sons), Moses didn't simply make a decision on his own, even though he was the leader. Instead, he brought their question directly before God, showing both humility and respect for how these matters should be settled. His willingness to seek God's guidance rather than rely on his own judgment opened the door for God to establish a new law that protected women's rights to inherit family property. This small moment reminds us that sometimes the most faithful leadership means recognizing the limits of our own authority and listening carefully for God's direction, especially when we're facing situations we haven't encountered before.
