Numbers 26:65

What does Numbers 26:65 mean?
This verse marks the completion of God's judgment on the generation that left Egypt during the Exodus. Forty years earlier, after spying out the promised land, the Israelites had refused to trust God and enter Canaan, and God responded by saying that entire generation would die in the desert without seeing the land they'd been promised. By the time we reach Numbers 26, that pronouncement has come to pass, and only two faithful men remain: Caleb and Joshua, the two spies who had believed God and urged the people forward. It's a sobering reminder that choices rooted in fear and doubt can have real, long-lasting consequences, but also an encouragement that faithfulness, even when it sets you apart from everyone around you, is ultimately vindicated.
