What does Numbers 24:13 mean?
Balaam, a prophet hired to curse Israel, is explaining to King Balak why he can't simply do what he's been paid to do. No amount of wealth can override what God has put in his heart to speak, because his role as a messenger means his words aren't truly his own to give away. He's acknowledging a kind of beautiful constraint: his freedom lies in speaking only what God tells him, not in choosing whatever words might please his employer or benefit himself. It's a reminder that some commitments run deeper than money or social pressure, and that real integrity sometimes means standing firm even when it costs us.
