“Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the evening.”
What does Numbers 19:7 mean?
After handling the ashes used in the purification ritual, the priest had to wash thoroughly before returning to normal community life. This washing wasn't just practical hygiene, though it certainly was that, but also a symbolic step acknowledging that this sacred work set him apart and required him to be cleansed before fully rejoining others.
