Numbers 18:9
“This shall be yours of the most holy things from the fire: every offering of theirs, even every meal offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render to me, shall be most holy for you and for your sons.”
What does Numbers 18:9 mean?
God is telling Aaron, the high priest, that his family will be supported by receiving a share of the sacrifices brought to the temple. Rather than working secular jobs, the priests would eat from the holy offerings that people brought to God, keeping them sustained as they did their sacred work. This arrangement meant the community literally fed those who served them spiritually.
