Numbers 18:1
“Yahweh said to Aaron, “You and your sons and your fathers’ house with you shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.”
What does Numbers 18:1 mean?
Aaron and his family were being given a profound responsibility: they would be held accountable for how the sanctuary was treated and how the priestly duties were carried out. This wasn't primarily about punishment, but about serious stewardship, much like how a manager bears responsibility for their workplace. God was saying that their choices, actions, and faithfulness in these sacred roles mattered deeply and would have real consequences.
