What does Numbers 16:21 mean?

God is addressing Moses and Aaron during Korah's rebellion, when a group of Israelites challenged Moses' leadership and God's chosen priesthood. The Lord is saying they need to step back and away from the rebels so that divine judgment can fall on those who are resisting Him, without the faithful leaders being caught in it. This is a stark moment, but it reflects something true about consequences: when we reject God's guidance and leadership, there are real results. The call to "separate yourselves" is also an act of mercy toward Moses and Aaron, protecting them from sharing in the punishment. Sometimes staying close to God means creating distance from rebellion around us, not out of judgment, but out of alignment with what's true and life-giving.
